The Long Journey

HI!
My name is Jennifer. About 8 years ago, I was faced with a life changing decision when my husband and I were expecting the arrival of our daughter. Until this point, I had a relatively successful career in document imaging for a medical insurance company and I was one of the top candle consultants in my region for a home demo company. After an extremely difficult pregnancy which resulted in my daughter being born prematurely, I was presented with the choice of continuing my career or staying home to help my daughter overcome the obstacles she may face for being born early. It was not a difficult decision. I decided to stay home and try to revive my candle consulting business. Unfortunately with the decline of the economy then and from me taking so much time off during my pregnancy, I just could not get my candle consultant business back up and running.

Several years have passed now and my daughter is happy, healthy and on track. I have contemplated the ideas of returning to the workforce, but due to my time away and my own health issues, my choices are quite limited now. After some self reflection and comparisons of past jobs, I deduced I am happiest when my creative side is involved in whatever task is in front of me. I realized that I am an artist, a fabricator, a designer. Which should have been apparent to me years ago…whether it was when I made a curio cabinet out of cardboard boxes at 9 years old, made a haunted house in my parents' basement in my early 20's or when I made hair combs for the eight bridesmaids in my friend's wedding 13 years ago. It all started to become more clear to me.

Recently, my cousin was planning her wedding. Again, my skills were called upon to create hair pieces for five bridesmaids and 3 flower girls. My creations pleased the bride and were complimented on by many people at the reception…which made me think, maybe I should try sharing my creations with other people.
